A New Approach

I've been thinking about the best way or ways to share my passion for video games, particularly from years gone by.
Social media has proven that it just isn't the best way to do this, in a time where users fight and snipe at each other over seemingly innocuous posts because they carry messages that differ from their thinking. Social media platforms are also dominated by politics or attempts at farming engagement, which leave genuine posts to be buried. It's a vicious and unkind environment, and gradually eats away at the intrinsic motivation of people like me who enjoy talking about nostalgic things.
Moving forward, I'm changing my approach and making social media posting a bit less of a priority. There will still be some presence (more on that in a bit), but the bulk of my sharing will go in one of two places:
My peteskerritt.net site will be my de facto social media account. It's a MicroBlog site, which is a microblogging service similar to the usual social media platforms. Characters are limited, so it's great for quick thoughts and photos. If you want to see what I'm up to, that's the site to bookmark.
This site, peteskerritt.com, will finally get some belated use as a platform for longer-form stuff. These take longer to write, so the updates may not be as frequent. I won't put a schedule out for how often updates will come, but threaded posts aren't really feasible on the other site-- so if I have more thoughts that require more words, I'll write 'em here. Keep in mind that posts here may not always have photos or perfect text formatting. These websites are for fun, and I'm not looking to become a "content creator".
For those who follow me on Threads, you'll see my peteskerritt.net content mirrored there. I recently deactivated my BlueSky account, so Threads is the best social media way to find me. Photos will continue to also be uploaded to my Instagram account, and I will sometimes post short videos to TikTok.
Wherever you choose to check out my stuff, I'm grateful that you do. This change has been a long time coming. We'll see how it works out.
In the meantime, check out some recent additions to my collection:
